Kaumahana Hub extends our heartfelt mahalo to Captain Sam LeMar and The Salvation Army for organizing lunch and dinner food deliveries for our kūpuna in Pāhala.

Special mahalo to Tina Eder, the Eder ʻohana, and their friends for standing alongside Kaumahana Hub and The Salvation Army to help deliver those meals directly to our seniors.

That teamwork brought nourishment, reassurance, and real care to kūpuna during a difficult stretch of Hurricane Lala recovery.

MAHALO NUI LOA, BERNADETTE & KALEO!

A heartfelt MAHALO to Bernadette Haleamau, her spouse Kaleo, and their ʻohana for their incredibly thoughtful donation to the Kaumahana Disaster Relief Hub.

Their ʻohana put together so many emergency supply buckets filled with much-needed essentials including:

Toilet paper, paper towels, Spam, tuna, Vienna sausage, canned vegetables, can openers, dish soap, first-aid kits, cloths, saimin, snacks, oatmeal, evaporated milk, and boxed cereal.

They also donated so many one-gallon bottles of drinking water to help our families in need.

What really touched us was how Bernadette described their contribution:

“Just something my ʻohana could put together to share.”

That simple statement says so much about the spirit we’ve witnessed throughout this disaster — ʻohana helping ʻohana, neighbors helping neighbors, and people giving whatever they can because they care.

Bernadette, Kaleo, and ʻohana, mahalo nui loa for your generosity, your aloha, and your willingness to share with our community.

From all of us at the Kaumahana Hub, we express our deepest mahalo nui loa for the tremendous generosity and aloha shown to our Pāhala community following Hurricane Lala. Donations of household goods, clothing, fresh fruit, and other necessities helped families regain comfort and a sense of normalcy. Every donation carried something that could never be measured on an inventory sheet: aloha. You helped us care for our kūpuna, families, neighbors, and Pāhala. Mahalo for your generosity, compassion, kōkua, and for standing beside Kaʻū.
